Views from Pickwell and Woolacombe Down (Above Putsborough/Woolacombe Beach)

Pickwell is a tiny hamlet just a mile or so from Georgeham with a special secret – a bench on a nearby terrace with superb views over Woolacombe Bay which includes Putsborough beach. From here you can see Baggy Point, Morte Point, Hartland Point and Lundy Island. The changing seasons and time of day give an endless variation of colour that means you can go back again and again and get a different view.

From Pickwell a steep walk down-hill brings you to Marine Drive from which you can descend through the sand dunes to Putsborough Beach. Alternatively you can walk up Woolacombe Hill that also provides ever changing vistas. There are often a few Exmoor ponies on Woolacombe Down.
